CAVU is a US public charity dedicated to educating and engaging key stakeholders about sustainable management of our natural resources. CAVU uses its unique combination of tools: flight, film and strategic alliances to bring communities, governments and public opinion makers new perspectives of the fragility and scarcity of their natural resource and its potential as a sustainable economic resource. I first teamed up with CAVU in 2007 for editing and post-production on Voces del Darién. Assisting on the shoot and taking full advantage of the CAVU mobile edit suite, I completed a "field edit" - a unique and exciting opportunity to craft the film's story, structure and style with the benefit of immediate feedback from not just the crew but also the communities and organizations featured in the film. Other responsibilities have included managing large quantities of media from various shoots. Since 2007, I have gone on to work with CAVU on numerous other projects, such as Nuestras Aguas, Nuestra Vida, Agua Más Que Un Tubo, and Cockscomb: Jaguar Proud.
Jim McSherry is
a writer, producer and director. HOMEBOY, his first film, was completed
in the fall of 2006 and had its international premiere at Documenta

as an educational tool by gang-intervention organizations in the United
States. In fall of 2007 Jim McSherry Films began pre-production on its
second project, an exploration of human loss across cultures. The Development Communications Workshop :: official site Founded by development economist Charles Mann, The Development Communications Workshop is a collaborative group of researches, policy makers and artists dedicated to using digital storytelling to bring to life important issues facing developing nations. Through its production of original content, its facilitation of films and videos in various stages of production, and its continued workshops, DevCom brings together mentors and students of development who seek a to advance their understanding of how digital media can be used to multiply the effectiveness of their knowledge of international development. As an all
around media technology mentor, my work with DevCom has ranged from
training (in programs such as Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro
and Dreamweaver) to video editing, graphic design, and web site maintenance. During my six years at Harvard University I handled a wide variety of tasks which included: assisting students at a computing and multimedia lab; developing training and instructional materials (written and video); researching, testing and installing both hardware and software; and performing an array of classroom A/V duties.
A US Non-profit, The Pacific Bay Project works to provide better access to education and health care as well as raise awareness of relevant environmental issues in rural Panamá (currently focusing on its home territory, the towns on the Gulf of Chiriquí). I began my
work with the Pacific Bay Project on Pescando
el Golfo (Fishing the Gulf) in late 2005 and have since assisted
with the website, DVD distribution, preproduction on subsequent projects
and its efforts in obtaining non-profit status (finalized Dec 2006). As an industry leading Employment Law and Human Resource (HR) Information Company, HELPLINE has revolutionized the way that Professional Services are brought to the workplace. Through insurance, financial services, payroll and governmental channels, they provide legal advice to thousands of employers from the small to medium size firm in the private and public sectors to large organizations that have in-house legal and HR departments. My work with the Workplace Helpline has included shooting and editing training seminars and other content for the web, as well as producing original Flash presentations. |
